Companies that spray and what they claim they do.
Companies that claim to solve your solution by spraying your
attic and or roof are scamming you! Even in the US, there is still no (what we call)
miracle spray to keep animals away or off your roof.
Any odor that an animal carries and produces through its fur, urine and feces is
remaining there. The only sure way to remove it, is:
- remove aninmal(s)
- remove saturated materials(usually being the insulation)
Imagine a child having an accident in bed. You can febreeze it all you want. This
is just a cover up solution. Until you wash or remove material it will remain inside
the material matter. If an animal has just recently infested your attic usually
removal of material is not necessary. There may be a few droppings, but retrieval
would be like a needle in a hay stack. A company should deodarize the entry point
where animal is coming and going. And this is merely to try and mask the scent and
even this is just temporary. Anything to give us a little upper hand to try and make
animals think twice before entering or atleast discourage them from a fresh scent.
This should be practiced and at no charge. Companies that want to charge for deodorizing
after removal as well in order for you to get a warranty, really beware. Your warranty
should be reflected upon the repair and its quality, not a spray which is really not
pertanent or 100% effective.
Always ask what product name they are using and check it out. Make sure it is safe
to spray it on the attic material and safe for you yourself. You can either check with the
company where it is made or call your local health department.
If a company says it is going to neutralize the odour, It would have to be very toxic.
Imagine what it would do to the insulation and wood in your attic.
